Feeling troubled and worried because of the pandemic? Are you one of those who is having a hard time coping up with the situation because of the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to us, humans? It may be cruel and scary to go out of our homes right now, but we can actually make ourselves feel better by giving attention to things that we can control in our lives.
Let us not be too hard on ourselves especially at these times. In fact, we should be taking care of ourselves not only physically, but mentally as well. Here are some of the things we can do to feel better during the pandemic.
Start the day with kind words. The moment you wake up, fill your mind with happy thoughts and by giving thanks that you have another day to spend time with your loved ones and do things that makes you productive and purposeful. Remind yourself that you are amazing in your own ways and that all things will get better soon.
Stay connected. They say that communication is the key to all relationships. This one works accurately in our situation right now. Yup, for sure you are always connected online, but do you also connect with your family, especially during these trying times? Show your love and concern, get updates, and always communicate with your family and loved ones. After all, they’re the ones you can run to about your concerns and feelings.
Take time to unwind. This pandemic might be bringing stress to you so make sure you are giving time to unwind with relaxing activities. Set a time for you to do things you enjoy and important to you. That may include playing music or instrument, painting, reading a book, or gardening, regardless of what activity you do, always make time for it because it will surely divert your attention to good things rather than the negative energy.
Always think of NOW. Forget about yesterday and tomorrow and focus your attention on what’s currently happening in your life. You are the only person who can control what you’re thinking. Instead of worrying about what happened and may happen, give full attention to what’s happening in your life right now and your worries will turn to a strong appreciation of the present moment.
Love yourself. This might be a good chance for you to reflect and connect with your inner self. Re-visit your goals and mantra in life. List down more things in your bucket list or plan things you still want to accomplish!
Plan on what to do after the pandemic. Planning on things to do after the pandemic will help you become optimistic. Get a paper and list down things you want to do when everything’s back to normal. List down places you want to visit, things you want to eat, and activities you missed doing because of the pandemic.
We may not be in control of the situation, but we can always be in control of what and who we want to be at the end of the day. Remember to be kind to yourself and that these dark days will soon turn into rainbows and sunshine. Keep moving forward and keep in mind that brighter days will soon come.
